Ankali Club, Prague
May, 2026
Artistic collaboration with Pablo Garduño Takenaga
Every year Ankali celebrates its anniversary with a full weekender spanning across the entire club. Artists and friends within the community spend the whole week adding decorations and upgrades to the space. Pablo and I were asked to add something special to the Ankali dancefloor, and since this was our last Ankali Anniversary before leaving Prague, we wanted to give a special parting gift to our favorite club in the world.
We had always wanted to make a chandelier that could spin, which is technically challenging at first glance because the cables cannot spin with the lights. After a bit of research, we finally figured out how to do it.
The final design concept was to attach 12 R7S light bulbs evenly spaced around a circular ring which hung from a single point that rotated on a motor. Each light bulb was individually dimmable, and the motor was controllable via DMX.
The scupture’s capabilites were slowly revealed throughout the weekend. On the first night, the bulbs were dimmed on various chases, but it was not until the second night that the sculpture began to spin.
The most fun part was choosing the right moment to reveal that the sculpture could spin. I was operating while Pablo was playing, and at the perfect moment, I turned on the R7S bulbs and slowly began to rotate it. The whole room came alive.
